Read it, Watch it, Love it....

Bonjour my fellow people, did you know that there are only five days of Enrich left for me ever? My time at Enrich has been so amazing so I'm trying to make these last weeks worthwhile. At the moment I'm finishing my passion project which was the model of the Solar System but a few weeks ago I decided to change it.  My passion project now is showing everything I've learnt this year about  Astronomy in a website called Prezi. Also my affective study which is all about studying a gifted person (I chose Thomas Edison) has been going really well for me. Everyone has only got one more week to finish the study on a gifted person. Hopefully I get everything finished. Well that's me, Aloha.

Smashed

Half-way through term 3 already, time goes by so quickly you need to make the most of your time.

Today at Enrich I finished a planet of the Solar System. It was Mercury the most boring, dull planet in the Solar System. It doesn't even have an atmosphere which means no weather. I have now done three planets.

You may be wondering why I used 'Smashed' as my title. It is because I played Darryn (my teacher) at chess and I got smashed, not physically but mentally. And on the third of September I go to Ashburton for my chess.

And last of all today a boy called Miro who also goes to Enrich, his sister came in and talked about her life in the.............. CIRCUS. Her name was Lauren. She showed us videos of her doing acts in the circus. The circus goes around all New Zealand and it's called the Aoteroa Circus. She is really talented.

Until next time, see ya.

Migrations Workshop

"Who knows about migrations?" Darryn asked. I was clueless as I had not much of an idea of what migrations were but I had heard of them before.

Let's go back a bit. Everyone had to pick a workshop, it was either Time- with Katie, Writers studio- with Nicola, or Migrations - with Darryn. Anyway, today I learnt  about migrations. Migrations can be as small as 40 kids moving to another school or 1000s of animals moving to another country.

One of the tasks Darryn gave to us was to put these pictures in categories. I learnt that so many of the pictures to do with migrating have so much in common with other things, For example protesting about refugees and a passport have so much in common if you really think about it. Until next time see-ya.

My busy day!!

Today at Enrich I finished my final chess workshop that I was running. I had five people attending the workshop. I talked about sacrifices in a game of chess and ending moves. I think everyone learnt something new and had a good time.

Remember that the chess tournament in Dunedin is coming up on the 6th of July and at the moment I am first on the chess leader board.

This week is a special week because it is gifted awareness week which helps people out there to understand what giftedness really is.

Today I attended a workshop with Darryn. It was about i-Pads. One app on the i-Pad that really caught my attention was one called Simple Physics. On that app you have to create structures and see if it will withstand certain weights, for example:  tree house, stairs, a roof to hold snow, and a dam barrier. If it breaks you have failed. That is only one of the new apps that Darryn showed us today.

It has been an amazing day at Enrich. See-ya!!!

Eddie and the Bad Move

''Boy that was close,'' I exclaimed to myself!!!

To get you on the right page..... I decided to challenge a friend called Eddie to play chess against me.  In the middle of the game I made a terrible mistake, as I moved the wrong piece somewhere and I lost two very good players.

It wasn't looking very good for me until Eddie did a bad move and it ended up with a stalemate (draw).

I was thrilled because I'm number one on the leader board and Eddie is second, which means if I had lost, he would be number one at the chess competition. It has been a great day at Enrich. See-Ya!!

Chemistry

Max's workshop.
Now you may be wondering what Max's workshop is about, well it's about chemistry the nerdiest thing on the planet, (just kidding). I found his workshop really interesting. As you should know the person who ran the workshop was Max.

There were four people attending his workshop including me. Max mainly talked about molecules and atoms. Almost everyone knew about Max's big passion for chemistry. It has been ongoing for years.

The other thing I will talk about is that I played chess once again with a friend called Kavarn. It was quite a long game but in the end I pulled out a win. I'm doing a lot of chess because the chess tournament is coming up in July.

It has once again been a brilliant day at Enrich. Until next time see-ya!!

Passion Time

MY PASSION TIME

Now to start off there will be something different about this blog it will be good for a change. To begin I will talk about my main thing I did today, it was PASSION TIME.

My  passion time is my favorite time of the day because you get to do what you love doing and you have everything to do it with. For my passion time I'm making a scale model of the Solar System.

To make my scale model I'm using giant literally giant round balloons and I will papier mache them. Once I've done around five layers and it's all smooth I paint it.

Today I'm finished with a proper scale model of the Solar System.  And last thing of all I hang my scale model and will be able to share it during sharing night this term. Hopefully this blog  was good. Till next week see-ya!!

Teaching is really hard!!

''Man it's hard being a teacher'' I exclaimed.
Let's start from the beginning. Last week I signed my name up to run a student led workshop which was of chess. Now a week later it has just started.

To begin I showed them types of moves giggling I hear, next move giggling I hear, next move giggling I hear  now I'm getting frustrated but also I it's hard teaching them what I know because they can't really see what I see which can be frustrating.

The main reason I'm running the workshop is because on July the sixth there is a chess tournament. The top six from each day at Enrich go through and it's the last year to go on my day. So I'm giving an opportunity for other people to get through.

Hopefully next week I can run the student led workshop again. Until next time see-ya!!

Passion time

My passion time, the best bit of the day. At Enrich today I started to buy my materials for the scale model of the solar system. I can't wait till it is done. It took a long time to find the materials that I need. For most of the planets I'm using large round balloons and I will paper mache them. And I know where every planet and star will go and the size of each planet on the scale model of Solar System. This afternoon to come where doing a....... TECH CHALLENGE. Which I love so much. I can't wait till I try it. This is the last week of Enrich for the Term which is why I'm sad. Till next time, thank-you!!

Enrich

"OOooohh" thats me moaning about the Term 1 reflection sheet!! Boring but very USEFUL. Each term we have to do a reflection because it helps us to remember what we have done and why we do these things over the year, in case your Principal thinks you are in wonderland drinking coke. Also I'm getting into my passion time. I am working on the SCALE MODEL OF THE SOLAR SYSTEM or a (death trap as they call it).  Also with the scale model I will place interesting facts about each planet, which I will display at Term three or Term four. What a inspiring day at Enrich! Can't wait till next week!!

The challenging fieltrip

"Are we there yet?"that's me moaning about being tired. What I imagined may have been a featureless walk turned out to be one of the most inspiring and observant field trips I have ever been on.

This trip was about patterns and how many there are, but you miss the patterns when you're too busy talking and not enough observing (really I'm talking about me). We had three destinations to reach and record our observations with cameras and in writing.

YOU would have never realised how many pattens are out there. That is why it's a universal concept. At the end of the day the teachers were so bombed out they were puffing after five minutes. So were the kids. Hopefully we won't do something that challenging next week!!!
See ya!

WHAT A DAY

BUMP ON THE GROUND AS FAST AS A ROCKET. This is what my hilarious teacher Nicola made us do!!!!  This game is called MUSICAL BUMPS. The aim of the game is that you have to dance while the music is going and when the music stops, you sit down cross your arms and legs. This game is a drama game and it also hurts your thighs a lot. In this challenging and dramatic game I came runner up! I'm so puffed after this game. My other highlight of the day, was my chess game against Katie.  I've played Katie before, and I actually gave up, so she won, but today... Katie played poorly!  I managed to create two forks on the board.  If you don't know what a fork is, it's when you move your piece and you have got two pieces of the opponents side that you can take.  I managed to get Katie's Queen and a Rook!  She was not very happy.  I am still second on the leaderboard - I hope to play Darryn next week, as he was on release today and we had Jenni in instead.  This has been a wonderful day at Enrich.  It hasn't quite finished yet either - Lloyd Esler is coming in to chat to me about my passion project, which is astronomy (as you know).  Lloyd is going to help my plan out my scale-model of the solar system.  I can't wait till next week.

The deadly hoops were just sitting there and staring at us. I was determined to get this done. We were playing a Wilson game called  Bulls-eye .

We were in teams of five and I was pushing my team to the limits. We had to chuck this irritating little bean bag in the hoop. The further you threw, the more points you got. Our team was going poorly BUT I WAS DEDICATED TO WIN AND I WASN'T GIVING UP.

It's the last round, my heart was pumping as fast as a rocket. I threw  the beanbag very softly and I thought that it was short, and I felt disappointed But it ended up in the last hoop. All my hard work paid off!

THE BEST PLACE IN THE WORLD

Zooming down to pass the ball, this was the best game of all.  Hi guys today I'm sharing about my brilliant day at ENRICH. Today to start off, we played one of the most exciting games ever. That game is called Piccadilly Circus. What the aim of the game is to have every student to have the ball without talking. Our best time was 31 seconds. And later on today we will give it another shot to beat our time. The best time was on Wednesday when they got 29 seconds. Personally I think we can beat them. My last thing I'm going to thrill you with  is; I played my game that a have a crazy passion about CHESS. I played against my friend Jordan. Unfortunately Jordan lost and the MASTER  (Luke) won. It has been a  significant day at Enrich!!!!

MY DAY AT ENRICH

To start off the day we got split into three groups. Each group had a teacher. We were learning about Affective Domain. Affective Domain is about how we are gifted and why we are gifted. With the group we also had to fill in a sheet that was about the good the bad and the interesting things about being gifted. Then we played one of my favourite games. I don't know what it is called but I will explain it to you. Ok heres how it goes...... you get into a group of three and you hold hands. There will be a hoop around five meters away. The teacher will yell out hop so you jump with your feet together. The challenge is that they might trick you by yelling skip or jump instead of hop. The main thing I did today was Chess against my awesome teacher Darryn. I lost unfortunately so next week I will kick butt! It has been a great day at Enrich and I just LOVE Nicola!

Chess

Second week at Enrich. Today at Enrich I arrived late because I completely forgot about Enrich. I arrived around morning tea time. The first thing I did today was talk about our 4 main things we do at Enrich, they are Affective Domain, Mental Edge, Talent Development and Concept Curriculum. The main one where focussing on is Concept Curriculum. Today Darryn finally told us what our Concept Curriculum is........ it is Patterns. So over the year we will be learning about patterns. After that we had to write a poem that describes everything about you. If you did not want to share it around you did not have to. The most important thing today I did was the chess game. I played against my teacher Darryn. I lost unfortunately. It has been a great day at Enrich, can't wait till next week!!
